I erased my pictures. Is there a way to restore them?

Basically, your picture files are not erased until the memory is overwritten with a new file. There are numerous freeware and shareware programs on the internet restoring lost pictures. If you type in "pictures", "rescue" and "program" into a search engine (e.g. www.google.com ) you should get a couple of useful hits.

I recorded a video but don't hear a sound after uploading it onto a computer.

A missing codec usually causes an incomplete playback. Most of the time the download of the latest Direct X ( www.microsoft.com ) or a player ( www.videolan.org ) solves this problem.

My camera does not accept memory cards.

Most of the time this problem is caused by an incompatibility of SD card and camera controller. Since there are many manufacturers of SD cards on the market it is almost impossible to get them all in line with our products. Therefore we recommend to use SD cards either from Praktica or from Panasonic.

Our cameras are operating on a high security standard. This way a serious damage of the electronics caused by a malfunctioning SD card will be avoided. However, some manufacturers of SD cards are not complying to the standards of the International SD Card Association. Therefore these products won't work with our products. It is even a misapprehension to think the camera might be faulty although the card is working in other devices.

If the card has still warranty you might try to replace it with one of the above mentioned products.

The batteries discharge very quickly and can not use the camera for more than 15 minutes. After that it shuts down all of a sudden.

There are two possible sources for failure:

1. You are using a SD card that is incompatible with the camera
2. We recommend to use either Alkaline batteries (LR6 or LR3) or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries (with at least 2300mAh) for cameras using standard batteries. Lately, we experienced a change in the manufacturing of batteries. It is ery important that normal batteries are labeled with "LR" instead of R or ZR.

After connecting my camera to the PC it won't be recognized. I don't get a new removable disk on "my computer. What am I doing wrong?

Most of the time this problem is caused while connecting the camera to a USB-hub adaptor or front USB. Please connect the camera directly to the USB ports on the back of the PC.

Why is there no driver for Linux or Mac?

Modern operating systems like Windows (2000, ME, XP), Linux or Mac OS X are providing the needed drivers automatically. Simply connect the camera to the Mac. It should be recognized as a new drive automatically.

There is no driver for Windows XP on my CD? Where do I get one?

You do not need a driver file for most of our cameras. The needed driver will be provided by the operating system itself. Simply connect your camera as suggested in the manual.
